Golden Butter Rum Cake

Happy Holidays!  I'm back at it. This time I'm adding Jocelyn Delk Adams' Real Deal Caramel Icing to the mix! Like always, I used Pioneer Woman Ree Drummond's Rum Cake Recipe.

I cut the glaze amount in half because I wanted the icing to adhere. 

That Icing really made a delicious cake even better. It is definitely the real deal. True Southern goodness. It took me close to an hour and a half to make but it was well worth the time. I wish I'd iced the whole cake but I called myself having original too.

I would have loved to have received this doll as a little girl. When I was coming up, there were no Black dolls except for rag dolls so I mostly got books and clothes for gifts.
Can you imagine how inspiring it would be for a budding writer, journalist, creative soul to get a doll honoring a leading writer, director, producer, storyteller,  etc., etc., etc.?
This Ava D doll was initially released earlier this year as part of the toy company's custom made one of a kind "Sheroes" collection. Earlier this month a collectible version was produced but sold out in less than an hour.
Hopefully more will be produced.

Fashion Santa is Haute! Haute! Haute!

Although I have a hard time around the holidays I would luv luv luv to cop a squat on Fashion Santa's lap.
This is the second year that silver haired and bearded model Paul Mason can be found dashing through Canada's Yorkdale Mall all decked out in fashions featured at the shopping center.
Shoppers are encouraged to take a selfie with the snazzy silvery Santa. And if they post the selfie using a special hashtag, the mall will make a donation to the Sick Kids Foundation.
"It's a modern spin on the typical Santa photos," the silver fox explained. "I do so many selfies because of my profile and beard, so it seemed like a natural fit."
Now that's alright!!!

Sweet Potato Pie w/ a Lil Sumthin Sumthin

Remember that Sweet Potato Eggnog Pie from last week?  And you know how most pie recipe yield enough for two pies? Well I used deep dish pie crusts so I wasn't sure there was enough for a second pie. No worries I adapted a recipe found on the Kraft website to make a Sweet Potato Cream Cheese Pie. Oh My!
